  • CERAMIC PRO REMOVAL

CERAMIC PRO IS PERMANENT COATING. HOWEVER, THERE ARE CIRCUMSTANCES WERE REMOVAL OF THE COATING MIGHT BE NECESSARY.

One such situation where the removal of Ceramic Pro might be necessary is during body work. For example, a car has a dented front fender that needs repainting. After repairing or replacing the fender, the body shop will need to blend the paint into the hood, door and bumper. The fender of course has no coating as it was either repaired or replaced. In order for the body shop to prep the adjacent panels for paint blending, the Ceramic Pro coating will have to be removed first. Read on to learn the process for removing a Ceramic Pro coating.

  • DESIGNED TO BE PERMANENT

Ceramic Pro is removable only via abrasion. Body shop prep solvents or paint thinners will not remove the coating as it is resistant to even the harshest chemicals.

  • REMOVAL PROCESS

Sand coated area using 1000 grit or stronger sand paper past the ceramic pro coating layers and into the clear coat until the clear coat is an even milky appearance. Once you’ve reached this point, the process of working on the panel is that same as with any other automotive painted surface.

Ceramic Pro is a Silica Dioxide based coating. Ceramic Pro is body shop safe both in its liquid and solid (cured) state. The use of standard protective equipment and face masks used for body shop work is recommended.

Once the completed body work is done, a Ceramic Pro certified installer must reapply the coating to match the rest of the car. This would be a good time for maintenance to the coating on unaffected panels. As a body shop, you could become a certified installer in order to be able to reinstall Ceramic Pro coatings. Otherwise, you can search our extensive network for certified installers in your area. For either of those options, please see the links below.
