Koenigsegg Gemera: The 1,700 HP Family Car of Your Dreams

What’s with the name of this new Koenigsegg? How does a two-door 1,700 HP mega car have enough space for an entire family? Get ready to have your mind blown with Koenigsegg’s newest addition to their family of innovative hyper cars.

The name Gemera originates from the saying “to give more” in Swedish. Koenigsegg has always be known for their two seater hyper cars with insanely sophisticated technology embedded into the DNA.

That being said, the Koenigsegg Gemera is a refreshingly new take from the Swedish company’s four seater mega car.

The Gemera pushes 1,700 hp with a mid-engine design. How is that possible? This is achieved with a 2.0 liter twin-turbo three cylinder, pushing 600 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque and it doesn’t even have camshafts.

It combines a new hybrid system for an insane 1,700 HP and 2,581 lb-ft of torque. Koenigsegg is claiming it will reach 0-60 speed in 1.9 seconds. This would be a direct competitor to Tesla’s Roadster, watch out Elon.

This small three cylinder uses Koenigsegg’s new Freevalve Technology in combination with a flex fuel designed engine to run on renewable fuels.

The interior space is so massive you don’t even need to move the front seats to get in and out of the rear seats. You’ll have to watch the video to see this with your own eyes. The technology behind this car is truly unheard of.

Koenigsegg states they want to put an end to fossil fuel dependency on combustion engines. The advantage of doing that, is that compared to a pure electric car, this vehicle is 30% lighter than if it were pure electric with tons of interior space.

This Koenigsegg is also the first all-wheel drive car with an electric motor driving the front axle. There is also a hydraulic clutch at each output shaft which is what allows for torque vectoring across the axle.

On top of all that, each rear wheel has a 500 hp electric motor. The monocoque and body work are all made of carbon fiber and it will be around 4200 pounds due to the batteries and electric motors mentioned.

The most impressive aspect of this car is how much space the vehicle offers for the power output! During the Koenigsegg presentation, you are drawn in by the gorgeous vehicle and design, followed by the two door “family car” doors flying open.

But what you don’t expect is 4 individuals coming out of the Gemera all with luggage in their hands, showcasing how spacious this 1,700 hp mega car truly is.

This move by Koenigsegg is truly the ultimate flex to start off the 2020 car race between manufacturers trying to one up one another. Innovate or die seems to be the new standard of the car world, Koenigsegg just stepped up that pedestal.

Ultimate performance has always belonged to the world of two-seaters with no thoughts for luggage space or practicality – until now. The Gemera is the world’s first Mega-GT and Koenigsegg’s first four-seater. Extreme mega car meets spacious interior and ultimate environmental consciousness.
